The annual Partnership for Patient Care Leadership Summit was held this past Tuesday, March 20, 2018 with over 80 healthcare leaders and partners from 26 different organizations in attendance. Notable event highlights included keynote speaker, Barbara Balik, RN, EdD of Aefina Partners and Institute for Healthcare Improvement who spoke of creating safety through joy in work and what action steps leaders can take to nurture joy in work at their organization while accelerating their safety outcomes. A new addition to this year’s programming included presentations from all top three winners—Geno Merli, MD, MACP, FSVM, FHM, of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Bea Leyden, BSN, MBA, RN, CPHQ, NEA-BC, of Jefferson Health – Northeast, and Megan Heere, MD, of Temple University Hospital—of the 2017 Delaware Valley Patient Safety & Quality Award program. Additional event highlights included a presentation by Edouard Trabulsi, MD, FACS, of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital who gave an overview of the physician-led prostate cancer quality improvement collaborative, PURC, and HCIF’s Claudette Fonshell, RN, BSN, who provided an update on the Regional Safe Community program. We thank those in attendance for making the Summit a great success and would like to mention that this year’s Summit was made possible through funding by Independence Blue Cross and the region’s hospitals and health systems.
