Claudette Fonshell, RN, MSN
Director, Clinical Improvement
After a 22-year career in clinical nursing, infection control, and patient safety, Claudette Fonshell joined HCIF in 2013. In her role as Director, Clinical Improvement, she has overseen collaboratives addressing a variety of topics, including palliative care, maternal mortality, and safety culture. She is currently responsible in managing PURC, a physician-led collaborative and data registry aimed at advancing the quality of diagnosis and care for men with prostate cancer.
Prior to her work at HCIF, Claudette most recently served as Patient Safety/Clinical Outcomes Coordinator at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia where she led the hospital’s Culture of Safety initiative and coordinated Crew Resource Management training and implementation for over 900 staff. Claudette previously worked as Infection Control Preventionist at hospitals in New Jersey and New York, and she also has prior staff nurse experience in pediatric oncology and adolescent medicine.
She has completed training in Six Sigma, Lean, Crew Resource Management and TeamSTEPPS. Claudette received her BSN degree from Thomas Jefferson University and her MSN degree from Drexel University.
